Best Poster Session
The Best Poster Competitions at Foster Research Conferences aim to encourage students and recent graduates to present their original research, which is considered for subsequent publication in the International Journals. All accepted abstracts during the conference are eligible for poster presentation.
Poster sessions are essential component of international conferences and provide authors to present papers and meet with interested delegates and experts for in-depth technical discussions. In addition, attendees find that poster sessions are unique in way to see many papers in parallel. Therefore, it is important that you display your results clearly so as to attract people who might have an interest in your paper.
In choosing a poster for the ' Best Poster Award ' at Foster Research Conferences, two main elements are taken into account.
Research Content is analysed for its originality, quality of the basic research idea, methodology and execution of the research and the interpretation of the results.
Poster and the poster presenter are evaluated for the ability to convey the theme and results of the research to its poster audience. The design of the poster and the presenter’s communication skills are integral to judge the best in the competition.
General Information
This poster competition is open to all students and fellows (Graduates, Post Graduates and Research Scholars not above the age of 35). The student submitting the poster must be the first author. All presentations are to be in English. Presenter should understand and respond to audience questions in English.
The abstract for the poster competition must be submitted one month before the conference date which is subjected to change, thus it is advisable to send the abstracts well in advance.
The abstract should include all the relevant details of the presentation such as abstract title, name, affiliation, abstract and biography etc. and have to be submitted through online or by email. Shortlisted abstracts will be intimated through email and the same will be displayed on the website.
The poster presenter/the registered author for some reason unable to attend the conference; may substitute any member on his/her institution’s behalf; in the event of which the substitute will be awarded not the registered author/contestant.
All the poster presenters who are shortlisted must register themselves for the conference before the deadline of the abstract submission. Poster Printing: Presenters are responsible for deigning and printing their own posters.
The poster presenters must refrain themselves from promoting their posters from the marketing and commercial perspective, thus the posters carry this undertone will be summarily rejected and informed via e-mail notification.
The poster competition will take place only if the registered number of participants is more than fifteen in number.
Posters will be arranged by topic on any one day of conference days. Approximately two to five hours exclusively in that day is set aside for poster presentations.
Handouts: Even though not required, we advise you to prepare handout consisting of a short (250-300 word) abstract followed by an outline of research findings, methodologies and conclusions. You may come with your own printed material. Have at least 10-15 copies of your handout with you for distribution.
Technical Specifications
Instead of Text, use photos, diagrams, graphs or any other artwork as a focal point to attract attention of the participants and these should be easily visible from a distance.
Try to keep all illustrations (charts, pies, graphs, etc.) into bold graphic display where the symbols are maximized.
Avoid sluggish colors that will distract the viewer from the principal parts of your presentation.
During poster session the author will be provided with a 1M x 1M poster board and mounting pins. The board will be labeled with the poster number in upper right or left corner. Authors/Presenters are responsible for mounting their posters 30 minutes before their presentation and removing them as soon as their poster session ends. Posters left up past that time will be discarded.
The title should be as brief as possible and lettering should be large. Each poster must include text in a large enough font (~20 point font) to be read easily by attendees from a distance of 4 to 5 feet or more. Lettering on illustrations should be large and readable. Photographs should be a minimum of 5 x 7 inches.
Abstracts should state briefly and clearly the purpose, methods, results and conclusions/discussions of the work.
Selection Criteria
The posters will be evaluated in terms of; originality of the research, theoretical and methodical approach to the research, ability to “close gap” in knowledge, design and layout of the poster, coherence, argumentation and methodology implemented, knowledge of area of research in which the poster is presented, interest levels, enthusiastic participation, aesthetic appeal, message and main points, balance of text visuals, clarity of oral and poster presentation, overall response to the questions posed by the judges and completeness of the work.
The winner of the Best Poster Presentation must present themselves at the time of announcing the award during the closing ceremony by conference chair/ Co-chair/ session chair.
